In the winter of 1999, I was staying with extremely gracious friends on a farm in Kanton Luzern, Switzerland. These web pages are the record of my scenic departure from Europe in the spring of 1999. This tour was really fantastic. Despite (and maybe a bit because) I suffered through some of the most foul weather I've ever seen, I really had a great trip. The Alps and the fjords of Norway were awesome. Speaking something other than English for entire conversations was exciting. Experiencing the compressed diversity of Europe was fascinating. And it didn't hurt that my US dollars were the mighty currency of the day. The photos and stories presented here bring back fantastic memories for me. I hope you enjoy them too.
