2002 Miscellaneous Bike Trips near San Diego

Here is a collection of photos taken throughout 2002. There was no major tour in 2002, but America and I did do some riding. Since she has a digital camera and we were never too far from home to use it, we were able to take a lot more photos than I usually do. And here is where they live.

If you don't want to waste a long time looking at these photos, but you're vaguely interested, I have created some highlight pages with a subset of the collection.

Death Valley

Palomar Not really a bike trip. It was a very mild car camping trip where we brought the bikes along because it's so fun to try and get them and us in a car.

San Onofre We took the train to the north end of San Diego County then rode to San Onofre State Park. The next day, we rode the entire 90km back home. Not a big deal, but America's first bike touring experience.

San Diego Bay
Just a nice day of bike riding where we had the camera. We rode around the entire San Diego Bay.

Laguna Mountains
A challenging long weekend tour in the mountains. There was a lot of climbing mixed with genuine winter weather.

Mexico
1 2 3 4 5 6 Our scratching the surface of Mexico. This trip was supposed to be longer, warmer, and dryer. Oh well. As it was, it was an eight day tour of our own neighborhood, the mysterious and forbidden south side.

Death Valley
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Technically 2003 too, but we left in 2002. This is a short, but well photographed car/bike tour of Death Valley including a side trip to Las Vegas.
