Here are some of Chris' Linux notes.
Apologies in advance. These notes aren't formatted too well. Also, most of these notes were written a long time ago. A lot can change... YMMV.
ansicode.cxe - How to deal with keyboard mappings and information on how to reassign keys in DR-DOS
backuphelp.cxe - Helpful notes on making back-ups.
bashhelp.cxe - Notes on the bash shell. Includes what all the start up files do. It also contains a complete copy of my ~/.bash_profile file and ~/.bashrc file.
cdromhelp.cxe - How to deal with cd roms - mounting and other easy stuff
customizehelp.cxe - How to customize various little details in the Linux environ. Mostly focuses on stuff that I like to have the way I like to have it in the bash start up and window managers. Also covers the xdm login screen.
cxerox - This file is actually a very well documented one line bash program that turns your scanner/printer into a copy machine.
datehelp.cxe - How to deal with the time and date.
drivehelp.cxe - Info on mounting various drives etc.
emacshelp.cxe - My personal notes about emacs. Mostly command shortcuts.
fdiskhelp.cxe - Pretty much a printout of what the commands are.
floppyhelp.cxe - Everything I've ever had to do with a floppy, msdos, ext, and direct block transfers.
ftphelp.cxe - A list of the ftp commands and some notes on ftp.
graphicfilehelp.cxe - A list of the various grapic file formats and some information about each of them.
kernelhelp.cxe - How to recompile the kernel.
keyboardhelp.cxe - How to remap and deal with the keyboard.
linkhelp.cxe - How to make symbolic links for files, directories, and devices. I keep forgetting!
minicom.cxe - How to use minicom in various unpleasant situations, like over a telnet, and other fun aspects of this fine program.
modemhelp.cxe - Brief note that talks about the escape code problem and what to do about it.
mounthelp.cxe - Some notes about drives etc. Includes floppys, and NFS.
newshelp.cxe - Some notes about using trn to deal with news and some news group notes I may have.
nfshelp.cxe - Some details about how to make NFS happy.
rpmhelp.cxe - This used to be the entire Red Hat 5.0 (Hurricane) list of rpm packages with descriptions. But that was long and clumsy. Now I just have notes on how to use rpm to get whatever information you want out of your archives.
printhelp.cxe - Some notes on the painful and frightening task of setting up your own printer management, especially over a LAN.
remoteX.cxe - A little note on how to run X Windows over a telnet session and how to get a clock up.
sambahelp.cxe - Notes and info about SAMBA and what worked for me.
scanhelp.cxe - Very good notes on a very explicit scanner hardware solution.
tarhelp.cxe - How to use the tar command for ordinary purposes.
thumbhelp.cxe - How to create thumbnail galleries of many photos.
timehelp.cxe - It's the same as datehelp.cxe. Aren't symbolic links great?
trnhelp.cxe - Same as newshelp.cxe
vihelp.cxe - Notes on using the mighty vi (vim actually).
ziphelp.cxe - Info on making an internal ide zip drive happy.
