27 September 1997 (nice; warm; sunny; mileage = 37.9; Alex's) -- X - Last night, I endured a dog-barking event. It barked for over 1 hour, starting around 2:00 AM. I finally got up and got dressed and went to kill it, when it stopped. It was not an endurance barker. So back to bed. The next morn there was some commotion about a dog who had fallen in a trench and got stuck and had to spend the night there. We packed up and I had some more whole yogurt (good!) and oatmeal. We got started and the riding was pleasant. I tended to break away on the hills, so that we all had our space. Past the Big Lagoon, I stopped for a snack (as did the Swiss). Then we started our climbing. I was much more powerful than HP, but I ride like an adrenaline tornado. They both ride cool and relaxed. I felt pretty good today. A racer guy passed me with the same delta as me and HP. Earlier on a hill, one passed me, but barely! Everyone was in good spirits after the climbs. They said they enjoyed the scenery and didn't mind the altitude price. We descended and I headed for Sausalito Cyclery. HP and I walked around and I showed him some disk brakes which he liked, and he wants to be my 1st customer when I make some. We made great time by avoiding the stupid bike "path." We climbed up to the bridge and it was a Swiss photo frenzy. They really liked the bridge. Next, we rode down Lincoln to the park and we ate lunch in front of the fountains in front of the DeYoung Museum. Then to Alex's. Showers and unpacking and chatting. Later, we went out to eat and found a simple American food place. I had a BLT. The Swiss have made some plans for what we need tomorrow. Sleep time.
